Behavior Profiling

PROFILE OF A COMEDIAN

You are a Comedian if…

You are fun-loving, outgoing, empathetic, risk-taking people-oriented, charming, affable, creative, enthusiastic, talkative, optimistic, trusting and highly influential characters. Like Action Heroes, Comedians are also instinctual, emotion-based or gut-based rather than information-based decision makers. However, where Action Heroes are more task-oriented, Comedians are more people-oriented. Building quality relationships, having fun, and attaining social recognition drive them. Comedians look for reasons to believe in, trust and like others. Like Action Heroes, they listen more attentively to headlines, highlights, the bottom line and the big picture rather than the details. They have trouble saying “No,” and have a tendency to over-promise. They struggle with detail, are known to become disorganized and have trouble managing their time effectively.

  • You move quickly and don’t always think about the total impact of your actions before you take them. You are a “run out in traffic before you look both ways” decision maker which can cost you precious money and time. You need to learn how to solicit feedback from the franchise support staff so you don’t get flattened in traffic.
  • You may resist following processes, which can dramatically increase your risk in business. You would rather be unrestricted in your movements to create a result. This will make it difficult for the franchisor to be able to support you properly as you would rather create your own system.
  • You seldom do the same thing twice. You are so creative; you are constantly inventing new ways to serve your customers. You run the risk of changing the winning formula, making yourself less effective. You need to learn how to create a business rhythm.
  • You form strong opinions and resist checking out perceptions against the facts. You just assume you are right and then take off.

  • You are optimistic and may overlook information which may indicate a problem. Therefore you miss opportunities to head off problems before they occur. You can confuse “feeling good” with creating great results.
  • You don’t always say everything that is on your mind in order to avoid a conflict. Tendency to hold back “negative” information from people who can help you.
  • You make “gut-based” or “feelings-based” decisions and may dismiss facts if facts contrast with “feelings.” Doesn’t always check opinions against facts.
  • You will go off on tangents and waste time. You are so creative that you can lose your focus.
  • You are probably highly disorganized and typically weak with details and financial numbers. Your motto is “Data Schmata! Let’s go sell!”
  • You know how to spend money and may struggle containing costs.
  • You may have a tendency to focus on the top line (revenues) and ignore the bottom line (cash flow).
